Hi, I'm Ethan, and I'm the creator of EthanDotLog. I used to work as an assistant manager in a global retail corporation,  but I was always unhappy. I felt like I was stuck in a rut, and I wasn't following what i feel is my true passion, computers. So, I decided to make a change. and i quickly learned Its not easy, but I am determined to make it work. 

That's why I started EthanDotLog. I want to share my journey with others who are thinking about switching career paths. I want to show them that it is possible to achieve your dreams, even if it's not easy. Over the next year i plan to crush out various online tutorials and become a fierce programmer - and have fun while doing it!

I also want to use EthanDotLog to connect with other people who are passionate about computers and technology. I want to learn from others ,share my knowledge, and network into an amazing community.

Its not all code and crunch though; and i'm a big fan of music, movies, and my dog, Dax. Dax is a goofy and caring Rottweiler-mastiff mix, and he's the best friend a guy could ask for. Occasionally these interests will make an appearance in my blog (it is a personal blog after all) and may even lead to some reviews (or dax takeovers)!

· Music: Slightly Stoopid, Whiskey Blanket, Knowmads, Eazy Mac, Neffex
· Games: CounterStrike 2, Tabletop Simulator, baldur's gate 3, S.T.A.L.K.E.R series, Path Of Exile 
· Coding Languages: HTML, CSS, JavaScript,  Linux command line

Scrimba, Unit Conversions, and Blog Updates

What's up, my fellow coding newbies! It's Ethan here, back with another blog post. Today, I continued working on my Scrimba course. I'm currently making a metric to imperial conversion app. The instructor is great and the code as you go format makes it easy to learn (and stick around). I also appreciate the fact that Scrimba has both class projects (solutions shown) and individual projects (bring out the google). This forces you to expand on what you think you know and to come up with your own solutions. My unit conversion app is coming along nicely, but I'm struggling with one thing in particular: getting the info from the user input without a button click listener. I'm still learning about event listeners, so this is a bit challenging for me. But I'm determined to figure it out!

Daily grind, Overthinking, and Resources

Welcome to all the new readers and followers! I'm so excited to have you on board.I know that learning to code can be challenging, but it's also incredibly rewarding. I've learned so much in the past few days and I'm loving every minute of it. One of the most important things I've learned is that it's okay to make mistakes. In fact, making mistakes is one of the best ways to learn. Don't be afraid to try new things and experiment with different code. Even if you don't get it right the first time, you'll be one step closer to understanding the concept(not to mention all the ways to do a single thing. The other important thing I've learned is that it's important to not overthink things... anyway here is how i solved yesterday's task. Yesterday, I was really struggling to figure out how to get the info from user input without using a button in the HTML. I tried a few different things, but nothing seemed to work. I had to use the number 1 too...
